The Standing Dead
Scattered throughout our surrounding forest are standing dead cedar. Limbless, barkless, massive reminders of the forest before
this area was logged in the early 1900s. Each time I come across them I am struck with awe. It seems to me that our definitions
of life and death must be incorrect because these dead trees vibrate with energy. Sometimes it feels like the surrounding
forest is being supported by them.
